2005 Baxendale Superlative

This is a 2005 Baxendale & Baxendale Superlative custom guitar. It has a Sitka spruce top, Koa sides and back, one piece mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge. The scale length is 24.750" and the neck is 1.750" wide at the nut and there are 14 frets clear of the body. The Koa wood used on this instrument is second to none in how spectacular the flame is throughout the sides and back. You simply can't get Koa any nicer than this.  The top is trimmed in abalone with a tortoise shell celluloid binding. For being as thin a body as this guitar is, the sound balanced and full. The depth of tone in this instrument defies logic in that this guitar sounds much bigger with plenty of headroom and volume, yet is very comfortable to hold. The shorter scale length allows this guitar to have a playability that makes medium gauge strings feel like light gauge. I consider this style to be a great performance guitar, but an even better recording guitar.
